Services to Youth
The Links Leadership Academy for Young Women was established in 2014 at Annapolis Sr. High School under the guidance of the Services to Youth Facet.  The program enhances the leadership skills and qualities of young women who are in grades 9 – 12. The program is competitive, and the ladies are selected in partnership with teachers and guidance counselors.
Every September, we reconnect with the students and inform them of the year’s goals and objectives.  Our focus for the upcoming program year includes topics that are relevant to today’s youth, including:
         ·        Black Lives Matter
         ·        COVID-19 Education
         ·        The Impact of Voting
         ·        College Preparation
After the kickoff, the young ladies attend monthly workshops and participate in activities that are facilitated by Links Chapter members and professionals from the Annapolis community. The young women will be provided the opportunity to tour the campuses of local Historically Black Colleges and Universities, attend the Annapolis Film Festival, and other cultural events.
At the end of the school year, we will present scholarships to our selected 12th grade participants. For this past year, we provided scholarships to eight Links Leadership Academy students. The scholarship application process requires a minimum of two years
participation and incorporates the applicant’s participation in the program and their progress and success as it relates to the mission
and goals of the program.  Our committee will spend time helping students prepare for their scholarship application essays. This will
not only better equip them to obtain money from our scholarship fund, but it will also help them to win money from other scholarship
programs.
